Zion’s Thanksgiving Dinner Preparations are Underway
Requests Being Accepted for Those Needing Meals Delivered
For decades, Zion’s has sponsored Trinidad’s Community Thanksgiving, ensuring that anyone who wants one has an opportunity to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. This year is no exception
Like our 5-Loaves meal ministry, Zion’s Thanksgiving Dinner is about a spirt of welcome, involvement, inclusion, and giving at a time when the need is great. It is no small undertaking. Planning begins months in advance and involves the support of both the Zion’s congregation and the community at large.
This year, a Thanksgiving core team will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Fellowship Hall to coordinate tasks. Anyone who would like to help with this year’s meal planning is encouraged to attend.
The core team, headed by Norine Hazen, plans the menu, shops, identifies volunteers, and seeks monetary donations, grants, and in-kind donations, to make it all possible. Prior to Thanksgiving Day, volunteers help with preparation and organization and then on Thanksgiving Day, they serve meals in the Fellowship Hall, provide curbside pick-up, and deliver food to those who are unable to come in person.
If you can help or would like more information, talk to Norine. Also, watch the Zion's website at ZionsLuth.org for updates. Already we are building delivery lists, so if you know someone who needs to have a meal delivered (Thanksgiving or 5-Loaves) please email Zion's at zionsluth@gmail.com.
Monetary donations can be given electronically through Zion’s donation portal at https://www.zionsluth.org/give. Checks can be made out to Zion’s Lutheran Church with a note in the memo line “Thanksgiving” and mailed or delivered to the church or placed in the offering plate.
