Where Can I Serve?

We are all members of the world and so function in every location of our lives as witnesses of our faith.  We do God’s work in our daily jobs, our homes, with our families, neighbors and community.  At Zion’s Lutheran, members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as cleaning the church, to preparing the church bulletins, to serving over 600 people at the Thanksgiving Community Dinner.

We are the Hands and Feet of Christ in the world.  Christian Service leads the congregation in fulfilling this call. As active members of God’s Kingdom, we support the following organizations and many other causes:

– Fisher’s Peak soup kitchen, Trinidad

– Samaritan’s Clinic, Trinidad

– AADA (Advocates Against Domestic Abuse) House, Trinidad

– ELCA World Hunger

– ELCA Malaria Campaign

– Habitat For Humanity

– American Cancer Society

– Medical Mission Tanzania

– ELCA Disaster Response

– Lutheran World Relief (LWR)

We take care of our church building as one of God’s houses.  The Building and Grounds Committee cares for the physical structure, seasonal decorations, and more.

Christian Education is responsible for the Lutheran-based Christian education of the children and youth (ages 3 to high school), and we have Sunday School, Summer Bible School, and Confirmation Classes. They provide opportunities for personal and spiritual growth, through special events, service projects and outings. We need people to teach Sunday School for children of all ages. Volunteers that act as hosts, leaders and provide transportation for service and social activities are important members of this congregation.  For adult education, we meet on Wednesday nights at 7 pm and on Sunday morning before our worship services.  A variety of studies will be offered in the year.  Please look at the calendar and newsletter for upcoming studies.

Worship & Music leads the congregation in weekly worship, special events, and seasonal services such as Advent and Lent.

Zion’s Lutheran Church is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Come join us to see how you can learn, serve, and grow at Zion’s.
